20/03/2010 - Echovirus Hammerfest II Reviews and Interviews!

Total Rock Radio

"Opening the Vic stage 1st thing on Friday lunchtime was Echovirus! After seeing them perform at the Sal Bar in Nottinghamshire with StoneCircle in support, I knew these guys were good and they did not disappoint. Playing to a full bar, these guys rocked and sweated through a 40 minute set on the very hot stage, playing effortlessly and gelling amazingly onstage together, this band evoke an immense power with strong vocals, epic speed-drum beats and grinding guitar solo's. With tracks like 'Prelude to Dystopia' the crowd were headbanging despite the looming hangovers! Press, punters and artists alike were constantly giving Echovirus praise throughout the weekend, and have clearly made a mark on the heavy metal scene and the Hammerfest/HRH goers. I look forward to their next album and tour and can't wait to see them again - a thoroughly brutal band and completely great guys! Echovirus - you rock!!!"

24/07/2009 - Download Festival REVIEW AND INTERVIEW

As the sun sets, the End Tent is almost packed but the crowd aren’t just here because they can’t bask in the rays anymore, almost every one of them is here for Echovirus. As soon as the intro track starts so do the crowd, whooping and hollering as each member takes to the stage until the Brighton metal heads unleash a barrage of guttural vocals and bowel movingly heavy riffs. Unfortunately from where I was standing, the vocals didn’t stand out particularly well from the instruments but no one in the crowd seemed to care, giving Echovirus riotous applause at the end of their opening song.

After a few more songs, it was clear that echovirus had the crowd eating out of their hands only taking a few moments between songs to ask the crowd how their doing, while swinging effortlessly from the momentum of each song to the next. Until their penultimate song that is when a technical difficulty ground the set to a halt. Although the band handled the incident very well, it detracted from the sheer ferocity of the performance. Despite this technical glitch, Echovirus put on one hell of a show, combining the brutality of a train wreck with the energy of a band that clearly love what they play.

As Echovirus were finishing up, I managed to grab the ecstatic singer, Dan for a few questions;

The tent was absolutely packed for your performance, how do you feel it went?
I’m stunned basically; I was not expecting that at all. It was awesome. I’m speechless

I’m guessing you enjoyed the gig then... Yeah man, everyone was kicking off for it. There was a massive circle pit in the middle as well that I was not expecting.

It’s safe to say that download is an important festival, how does it feel to say you’ve played here?
Honoured. It is literally one of my dreams come true

What bands are you looking forward to over the weekend?
Faith No More. They’re the first band I ever got the discography for.

28/05/2009 - Download Festival

We are please to confirm that Echovirus will indeed be playing at this years Download Festival in Donnington, UK. They will play a special Thursday night show with 3 other bands in support of the Download community and Live Nation. Fill details can be found here. The guys are really excited about being asked to play and look forward to seeing you there!

12/04/2009 - Album Release Issues

Sorry for the lack of updates in the last month, we've been really busy with various things. A lot of people have been asking where the album is and why it hasn't been released yet. Ok, well, it all comes down to Nick being very busy and the studio's Pro Tools blowing up. We are all very frustrated and really sorry about this, but there is nothing we can do at present. Stick with us, we'll get there in the end!

In other news... We've had to cancel our Peterborough show due to the promoter vanishing from the face of the planet. We promise to get a replacement show arranged soon, so hang tight!

Oh yes! KEYBOARDS!!! After the departure of Ben last year we are now looking for a suitable replacement. If you're interested in filling the role and can make rehearsals in Brighton and shows in general then please contact us! See our contacts page for details.

03/02/2009 - Recording delays due to the weather

As some of you may have noticed; we've had a hell of a lot of snow here in the UK these past few days. Unfortunatly, it's prevented the band from starting the album sessions on time. Fear not, as soon as the roads clear up they'll be back on track. Ironically, when the band hit the studio in 2008 to start work on the ODH EP, snow struck and almost halted the studio sessions.

In other news; the band are now booking promotional shows for the new album. If you'd like to book Echovirus please see our contacts page for information on who to contact.

02/02/2009 - In the studio at last!

Today Echovirus hit the studio to record their debut album "Invictus". With producer Nick Hemmingway at the helm, there are high expectations for the final product. The band have been working hard on the album for the past months since they were approached by Copro Casket Records. The guys have worked with Nick before on the unreleased "Dying Hours" EP (which has now been extented to become Invictus).
